Voice Recognition (Australia)

If your in Australia here are the App Version and Map Version you need to make it work - App Version is 7.481 - Map Version v700.1491 - No other Map Versions will work at this time. There are 2 new map upgrades after this Version but will not work. Any Questions Just ask away!

Hi Mate,

I have installed v8 of the application and kept the v700 maps. Voice recognition is good. Have you any idea when the 2008 maps will support speech. How do I grab the 2008 maps while I have the 30day free offer, but I want to not istall them as I want to keep speech?

My 715.1712 has the cspeech files. If these are missing from your map, I will provide them for you.

A suggestion .....

Use Explorer to navigate to the download folder where your 715 map got downloaded to on your pc; the map will be in a zipped format. View the contents and see whether the csspeechxx.dat files are indeed there. If so, you can extract those files to somewhere and then copy them to the map folder on your unit. One issue will be space for all the speech files so you may have to be selective.

What appears to be happening for some when downloading an installing a new map is that Home's software has taken it upon itself to determine what NOT to copy to the unit when it senses a space issue....and usually the files left out are indeed the speech files.

I looked in my TT download folder, and I don't have a folder called "maps." When I check my TT Home, it tells me my NA710 map is saved on G:\North_America_2GB. In that folder, I don't have the CS files either. Can someone post the CS files...or tell me where I can get the zip file? Thanks.

Z.

The G:\ folder is more than likely your unit.

Look here for the map on your hard drive:

C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads\map\NorthAmerica\North_America.zip

Think you'll find the csspeech files when you use winzip or other utility in that NA zip file. If so, make a copy of that zip file and then extract the csppech files from the original and copy them over to the NA map folder on your unit.

Hi DHN...

Thanks for your help, but I don't have a "maps" folder in C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads folder

Ok...

I got the CS files and copied all 53 files into my North America folder in my TT. And, I copied the support_asr.txt file into ASR folder and tried renaming it to support_asr.dat using the "rename" function, but didn't work. How do I change the extension to .dat?

You should be able to use Explorer to do the renaming. Make sure that Folder View in Control panel is set to show extensions for known file types. Or, open the file with Notepad and 'save as' support_asr.dat and ensure the 'file type' is set for 'All files'

Voice Recognition Working... Thanks for this thread

Checked everything, and all was in place except for the support_asr.dat file with the "1" in it.

Created the support_asr.dat file and copied it to the appropriate directory, and all works beautifully.

This is awesome !!!!!:D

Device details in sig.....

Big kudos.

Icons disappeared

I use to have ASR, but after updating a few weeks ago, the icons are gone. In it's place I did receive a new icon for "lane images" that apparently won't work with the map or map version that I currently have. Is there any way I can get rid of the lane images and get back ASR?

TT720
V 8.010

P.S.
How can I check to see how much space I have left on my card?

Thanks so much!

Restore from a backup.

FINALLY! My VR is working properly....I think. When I hit the VR icon and I say the name of the city/street, etc., they names come up. But...how do I choose them and move on to the next screen or initiate the calculation of the route?

Z.

If u use the Dialog option, u need to say the # of the result u would like to pick.
If u use the original option, u manually press the result city or street u see.
example

Stating 'done' or ok' if the focus is on the row you want or if the street number you state is correct often works, too.

upgrading maps on new 720 to get the VR feature to work

Hi. I am new to the forum. I have been doing my research and have settled on the tomtom go 720. I am about to purchase it and my two options i am considering are to buy it refurbished or to buy one from an ebay vendor. I have no idea what version of maps i will get on the 720 but with my luck it wil be an older version and i will need to upgrade to get VR working. My questin is this:

If I buy a refirbished unit and have to upgrade. I will need to call tomtom support and send them my reciept. Will they have a problem providing me the 30 day LMG on a purchase of a refurbished unit?

Most likely, you will have to call them. You should call them in advance and let them know that your planning to purchase a 720 from ebay or a refurb unit etc and would like a free map upgrade.

why e-bay?

retailers around here have very competitive prices. Buy a new one, get a full warranty.

A factory refurb is good.

I don't trust e-bay. Seen too many folks ripped off by vendors on e-bay.

gotta pay to play. ya get what ya pay for.
