Voice Recognition on 720 - Discussion

I will locate mine, but it should be in this directory:

My Documents/Tom Tom Home/Downloaded/map/North America

locate the "North America.zip" file. Open the zip file and see if the cspeech files are there.

Missing Files

Hey everybody:

I've read through every thread on the subject and have concluded that the only thing standing in the way of Voice Recognition on my GO 720 is the absence of the elusive cspeech files in the map folder?which are not on my TT, my computer, nor the CD that came with my TT, either.

So.....

Would it be possible for someone to copy the missing files and forward them to me somehow? As I said, every other component is there (I downgraded back to 7.221 from 8.3 and added the nec. data file to ASR, etc.).

Glad I stumbled upon this resource?GREAT information here?just hoping someone can help me out.

Thanks!

What map version do you have? (tap the satellite bars to see the FIRMWARE version; tap the version number and the next screen shows the map version installed).

Map versions for NA below 7.10 did NOT HAVE cspeech files.

dhn is right, but there was a version of the 7.10 map that did come with the files later.
We need to know the exact version of your map and build.

Thanks for your replies:

App 7.221
OS:2318
GPS v1.21
Boot 5.5015
Map: 'North_America_2GB' v710.1584

??????????

Don't know what to advise. My 7.10 map with this info:
710
build=1609

did have the speech files.

tomtom 720 Speech

Read thru quite a few of these threads and still cant get the VR to work. Just bought it on 12/28/2008 and the primary difference I see between my config and the post here is as follows

Differences
App Version: 8.300
GPS Version: v1.20

Same
Boot: 5.5015
OS: 244980
Map: NA v710.1584

As it stands now the VR icons are disable (greyed out). Any help is appreciated. I'm sure others have been equally frustrated.....

I'm in the same boat. New unit one week ago. After placing the support_asr.dat file into the ASR directory the icons appeared, but grayed out. I have to assume this is because I do not have the cspeach_xx.dat file in my NAMaps folder. My versions are listed in my profile. Has anyone come up with how to obtain that prerequisite cspeach_xx.dat file?

You both are entitled to a free map upgrade. Try using HOME 2 to update it or contact TT Support. The new map will have the cspeech files that the 710.1584 lacks.

I upgraded my map yesterday to the one listed in my profile (v815). I had Map v710 before that. It did not provide the cspeach file.

I thought one of the earlier posts in this thread said that the TT folks told him they removed that functionality on purpose. No?

Frank,
click >>>>HERE<<<< to download the cspeech files for the 815 map.

I have the NA 710.1584 cspeech files on my external hard drive, for those who need it. I will upload them when I locate it.
