More essentials problems
1-Tomtom essentials only takes the rout into a nominated city>city centre but with my 910 I can nominate several cities along the way as weypoints in the itinery list but seeing that there are further cities towards a destination by fastest route it always bi- passes the city centre along the ring road where possible as its "fastest" which is far more elegant and only when you specify an address in the city will it go there.
2-The essentials when you add a city always comes up with city centre and no other option ( unless its some spurious point on the ring road which means nothing) which I DONT want to be able to add to the itinery so the work around will be to sit with a map and follow directions for the next town or delet city center points along the way when you get close to a city on the itinery... very kak handed.
3-The 910 itinery lists basic weypoints which are easy to edit not every turn and roundabout that you get with essentials which makes the rout listing terrible to edit
4You can make up an itierary in the 910 then tell it to go ahead but with the essentials every new stop you put in you have to wait whilst the tomtom re draws the route, very annoying.
4- one good thing in the essentails is you can start a journey from a distant location but to do this a work around with the 910 if you wrap the back of 910 in foil thus blocking the gps signal received by the internal ferrite aerial it asks where you want to start from so eg based in chester I can start the journey from Sweden so I can make up and view the route as if I am in Sweden already.
Oh for a 910 with
1) a faster processor
2) no WRO date problem and full lock GPS
3) larger flat screen
4) 128GB internal memory
5) better battery capacity
6) still with the ability to explore the drive via windows to copy folders etc to another machine thus bi passing TomTom servers etc altogether
