safety cameras activation

I think Tomtom programmers expected safety cameras to only be purchased, so their PND interface always tries the bluetooth approach. Then the free cameras were for some reason just forced in for the US.

Dhn, I don't think you have the second of the two files (the license file) loaded on your device. I don't think Tomtom offers it to 7xx owners, as I never saw it until upgraded from my 720 to my 930. Everyone else posting here is a 9xx owner.

canderson, did you ever have a 9xx at one time? Home seems to happily transfer safety cameras to any Tomtom model once downloaded, but doesn't seem to download except on a 9xx.

Negative - never had any 9xx models. When I made the selection for "free" cams from TTHome, it supplied all 3 files.

DHN - when you went to your map folder prior to your success, how many files did you see in addition to the OV2 file related to the safety cams (same root name, different extensions)? Counting the OV2, there should have been 3. Did you originally just get 1?

No, also have (and always had ) a .dct and a .ver file there. Interestingly, when I did get the new safety camera download earlier today, supposedly to INTERNAL, the fact is the dates on my safety files on the card got updated to today's date.

You should be banned from this thread. Well, I ask you, your have PLUS services !!!

There we are, poor sods, trying to get it done without PLUS and you have to rub salt into the wounds by telling us "I have plus traffic and it goes right through" !!!

Not trying to rub it in but tell other users who do have plus services that this is available and works well. so lighten up sticks and stones....... blah blah blah.

A few minutes ago, I updated my 720 using Home. (I have the safety camera ov2 files in my map folder on the card).

Anyway, when I selected internal, besides mapshares, it offered SAFETY CAMERAS!

So, I dl and installed and now my functionality is the same as Arno described. My only issue now is what sound I want to associate with them.

In Items on device does your safety cam show as 68 KB or 160KB and is it Version 4711 ?

I just went Update my GO and in addition to the GPSFix and MapShare it also downloaded Safety Cam V4754
All lines prefixed with new icons in front of the TomTom one.
