fixing a tomtom start

The matching app for that BL would be below. See if installing it will get your device to startup.

http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/9.057.xabcd.CAB-navcore-START.cab

If it starts, Tomtom HOME can update to the official latest app.

The problem is the map, hopefully you have a backup of the original map that shipped with it, maps are locked to serial numbers.

hi, no joy again with that file, but as in my first post, ive already tried this version,, as i have every version made for the start..

can you tell me how you know the problem is with the map? surely the device would begin to start, but throw up a map activation error or similar?

also, when you asked for the info about the devices bootloader, did the reply i gave you tell you anything? or were you just checking that the device was actually reporting info about the bootloader?

and if the problem IS with the map not being linked correctly to the devices serial number, is it possible to fool the device in any way, or use a keygen etc? (im not expecting you to tell me how, just yes or no for obvious reasons!..

and (Sorry), should i actually have a mapsettings.cfg file? or is this generated when the device boots up or something?

thanks..

james.

Whenever a unit is fired up with working firmware and a valid map, if the mapsettings.cfg file does not already exist, it will be created by the unit. One could speculate on why it's missing from your map folder, but it would be only speculation. One thing for sure, that unit has never successfully fired up since that map folder was placed there.

Sorry, I meant to say that once you get the device started, you're next problem will be the map.

So the first thing is to get the device to startup and say "no maps found".

Have you tried formatting, and switching from fat32 to fat, or from fat back to fat32? This recreates the file system in case there are any issues.

Just unzip that 9.057 app and nothing else (use the one from the TT servers, links from other places may or may not work), the goal is to get o a no-maps-found screen.

Let us know if you can make it that far. That's the first step in getting everything working.

tried the above, again, no luck. but thanks anyway.
i think its game over with this device, theres obviously a serious problem..

My TomTom One 125 was frozen;
I made a backup with TomTomHome;
erased everything on it, also hidden files, with Windows Explorer;
I didn't format the One;
UPDATED it with TomTomHome;
and it works great again. :)

@LeoOne..... Do a Windows Explorer backup of the TomTom too
