Unable to update GO600

Question do you have an SD card inserted?
Do you have enough memory space to install the map?

Yes I have a 16gb micro card. There should be enough space on it. If there wasn’t it would tell me like it did when I was trying to install on the Satnavs own storage.

I cannot obtain the files you require because the brows tab next to the download folder is always greyed out.

Strangely enough the update percentage timer did start to work for whatever reason but it would get to 5% then keep flickering from 5% back to 4% until eventually it gave up and read 'not all updates were installed'.

On another occasion is would do the 5% install then suddenly shoot up to 100% and then say update failed as per above.

I have included some images that might help.

I did as the map image said and installed onto the SD drive which as you can see has more than enough space.
An image of the update percentage screen
And lastly, an image of the download folder greyed out.

Check the box to have the map downloaded to your computer first.

The first file in the cache folder you showed us earlier is called cache-status.xml. Open it with any text editor (Notepad, WordPad, Word, whatever) and copy/paste the first couple of dozen lines for us here.

Not sure but is this what you require?

I am suspicious about the 16GB micro sd card being faulty so I removed it from the satnav and tried formatting it on my PC. The sd card wouldn't format fully.

Have now ordered a 32GB Sandisk micro SDHC memory card. Double the memory and cheap as chips so no big deal if it doesn't resolve the issue.

Yes. The full Europe map is being downloaded to your PC. You took us to the 8th segment in your logs. It appears that your PC now has the entire map ready to send to your device, and that there has been no failure in the transfer from TomTom to your PC. Note that each segment shows percentage="100" which is good! The map is about 8,820,740,000 bytes in size.

Yes, I like your idea about another card. The issue now is getting the map from your PC to your device.

The new SD card should be arriving on Thursday, if not before. I’ll keep you informed once I have installed it and hopefully it solves the problem .

In the mean time, thank you for your help and patience, it is appreciated.

@canderson

I have now tried the new SanDisk Ultra 32 GB microSDHC Memory Card in my GO600 without success.

I have cleared the download folder and Cache to see if that help, but no.

The map on MyDrive, as shown in the image is ready to install but it won't recognise the new SD card. I have tried formatting it via my PC but that won't work either.

If I click on 'Install' on the map in MyDrive a box then displays titled 'NO ENOUGH STORAGE SPACE' with three option below, one being 'Use A Memory Card In Your Device'. If I click on that tab another box is shown titled 'Memory Card Tips' . These are all web site help links that don't work, saying 'This Site Cannot Be Reached' when any of the four links are clicked on.

Any ideas please.

For the SD card to be recognized by your GPS, the GPS must format your SD card.

Remove the SD card then do you have the option to select and install a small map on the internal memory?

Upon inserting the PC formatted card, your 600 should immediately ask to format it differently.

This is the problem. My PC cannot format the card for whatever reason.

Is there any other way of formatting it?

On a new card you should not need to format it with the computer.

the problem is that you no longer have a map on your GPS.

As said in another message try to download a small map on the internal memory to unlock your GPS.

True, but doing so assures the card's owner that it can be formatted to the correct capacity and isn't defective or a counterfeit card.

Also, my my belts and brace thinking, where a card should be fully, not quick formatted as FAT32 before letting the device do the internal formatting.

I’ll give it another go, but I’m pretty sure I’ve tried a full format already.

One other thing I’m going to try is, placeing the new micro card in the full size SD card cover that came with it and see if I can format via my DVD recorder.
