XL340 vs XXL540: help me decide!!!

I was referring to the list of authorized sellers on tomtom's page.

I suppose that's as good a place to start as any, but when you talk about "here", I hope you realize that we don't have any relationship with TomTom "here". TomTomForums is a completely independent outfit. None of the mods work for TomTom and never have. A few have beta tested units, but that's as close as we get.

Still hard to pass up the 540 tho, down to about $100 at Amazon with the 20% off code WQNP3NLR .

The problems with Amazon's 540 units this year mirrored the issues with Walmarts 335's (I think that was the model) last year. I'm of the opinion that it's a TomTom problem when trying to fill the Holiday sales with a particular model, This year it was the 540, and Amazon appears to have received the iffy batch. I'd be cautious with TomTom's promo model next Holiday season. Quality seems to suffer when they go for volume.
