XL 350M - 2GB or 1GB?

Not sure Canderson. I know that when I install a new map (just did this last week), it takes ~30 mins to get the map on to the device – but about an hour to download from server to my PC (2.8 mps speed). Also, every time I install a new map, there is no Mexico. I just re-checked that last night. I have USA/Canada along with Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands.

I know - it really isn't critical - but it would sure be nice to know for sure after all of this! I'm attaching a little application called USBDEVIEW. It's pretty doggone slick, and is useful for other things as well. When you run it, over on the right side of the horizontally scrollable display, you'll see the "USB Version".

Further indication that it is really a 340 under the hood. For all of their other failings, the ever-so-slightly newer XL335 and XL350 models were USB 2.0. The XL340 was USB 1.1, just like the XXL540.

Of course, I'm assuming your computer supports USB 2.0. If not, you'd only ever see 1.1 for anything.

Yes, my PC supports USB 2.0. as I have several thumb drives plus an external 260GB HDD USB drive for back-up. To be sure, I plugged in one one of those to see if 2.0 would pop up and it did.

Interesting that you still say I have a 340. The one time I had to call TomTom support, they asked my email address plus the whole SN. They agreed I had a 335. Maybe TomTom made some mistakes on the text file, or info file you found. Lord knows they've made other mistakes before.

Thanks for that utility BTW. May come in useful on another occasion.

All I can tell you is that if they had made a mistake on the particular file in question, and because of how that file is used, there would be a WHOLE lot of problems 'in the field' that do not occur.

When you fire up Home, select Help / System Information. What does it say for "Name" under "Connected Device"?

Yes, that's a nifty little USB utility. Hope you can find other uses for it as well.
