Tomtom GO for Android
This is the thread to enter votes for this list.

Please note the ground rules:
- Only report functionality that doesn't work properly, or that was removed/disabled since the initial product release. I set up a separate thread for voting for new features here.
- Only report unresolved bugs. Don't report issues that have been resolved in the latest software/map for a device, or that can't be permanently fixed by reformatting/resetting your Tomtom. I'll remove items from the tabulation as Tomtom resolves them.
- If you're not sure if something is a bug, please post a separate thread asking for help first. To rule out hardware issues affecting a particular device, I'll only post issues that have been reported or confirmed by multiple members.
- If you see another idea you like, vote for it too. I'll count total votes when I tabulate totals.
- I'll default to a rank of 3 if not specified.
- If you change your mind, reply to the thread with a new post with all your votes again. I'll replace all your old votes with the new ones. Please don't edit an earlier post as I may not see it.
- Don't include map data errors, there is a separate thread for mapshare updates here. Feel free to report systemic problems with maps or routing.
- To prevent spamming, I'll only tabulate votes from members who have made at least one non-spam/non-intro post somewhere on this forum, between 15 and 120 days prior to voting. New members, please wait 15 days after a prior post before voting.
- Only report bugs with applications released in the last 2 years. The goal of this thread is to hopefully get Tomtom's attention to fix issues, and I doubt Tomtom will spend time on 2-year-old software.

I'll get things started with my own votes:

- fix fm transmission of instructions - 3
- fix unoptimal routing on long routes (see link) - 5
- fix bad start time when using itinerary after a plan route (see link) - 2

Poor performance when running on battery : Rating 5

When running on battery power the sound crackles and the screen dims at volumes near and over 85% after the battery discharges slightly. This effects phone calls, directions, and mp3 playback.

Rating 5

Top reasons of diappointment

Top for me has to be loss of FM transmission. That is the Major reason I bought it was to use it on my bike and Now I have to keep looking down at it instead of hearing it.

No1: allow FM transmission for countries that do not apply.

no2: itineraryfor multiple waypoints seems to crash. Allow it to use multiple destinations like Garmin.

Nobody else has had an issue with itineraries and multiple waypoints. Those models that do have them can handle 48 waypoints.

So as to not hijack mvl's thread here, please start a new thread with the problems you are having with itineraries.

Thanks for all the votes so far - one thing I'll add, if you see someone's idea that you like, vote for it also. I'll count total votes for each item when I tabulate weekly.

Bugs that bug me

3 - Loss of FM Transmission for spoken directions etc.
5 - Turning itself on. (930T) (Yes I know about clear flash and pin reset etc. - it still does it from time to time)
3 - Having to "agree" to the legal notice after every time it has been docked. (And after every time it has turned itself on)
3 - Shift key (CAPS) does not work when using "operate my go" and entering text from TT Home.
:D

I will cast my votes for:

5 - No FM Transmission for spoken directions. The directions say it's possible, but it's not.
3 - Having to "agree" to the legal notice after every time it has been docked. (And after every time it has turned itself on)
5 - Shift key (CAPS) does not work when using "operate my go" and entering text from TT Home. Yes, very irritating.

TT GO 730

All, I did my first tabulation - still working on the formatting but hopefully it's readable.

I removed the following issues:
- moved the "legal disclaimer" item to the new features thread
- removed multi-waypoints crash - not reproducible on my 720, please post a separate thread for assistance

I added the following bugs, moved from the new features thread:
- metric rounding error - bama rambler voted a 3

I also made the following additions to my votes, after seeing others' ideas:
- HOME says to buy a subscription, even if already purchased - 4
- metric rounding error when entering speed limits - 2

Keep the votes coming, thanks.

I thought of a few more of my own votes, which I'll add to next week's tabulation:

- hidden turn restrictions, that are not visible in mapshare - 4 (link)
- changing street name in mapshare doesn't change "Navigate to" street name - 2
- fix IQroutes data when roads are predictably slower than 10mph - 5 (link)

App 8.350 was released. I haven't tried it yet, but others are reporting that it fixed:
- re-enabled FM transmission (only when music plays - you probably can play a silent MP3 like you can on a Garmin)
- rounding of mph in mapshare
- garbling of TTS voices on low battery (although it cuts of TTS altogether)

I'll give it a little bit for the dust to settle, and more comments to come in, and if things look OK, I'll remove these from the vote list in a couple of days.

These are the two bugs that annoy me the most:

* metric rounding error when entering speed limits (I'd rate that a 5, because it affects a core function)

* "map subscription available" message in HOME even after purchase (rate it a 4, because it keeps me from bragging accurately in my .sig :) )

Well, I'll be downloading it tonight. I don't need the FM function but am glad TT listened and fixed the rounding error. Now if they'll just fix the rest of the stuff in the list.

I'm adding screen flicker on app 8.350. I'll rate a 4 for now, if it bugs me too much I'll change the rating later.

Tom Tom 520 Music with iPod bug

Actually two bugs:

1) When it finishes one track, and starts another, the track name does not change, but if you leave the music screen and then return to it, the track name is displayed correctly.

2) There is a setting which is to automatically return you to the normal driving screen from the music screen after a while. It has never worked, and I have always had to manually return to the driving screen.

Best Regards,

Paul

The recent update does add the spoken directions via FM as long as music is playing. If no music is playing, the directions come through the TT speaker.

It does seem that the volume level after the update is much lower than before. I used to have the volume set at 70%, which was plenty loud, but now it seems too quiet at 80%.

All, I did another tabulation to the initial vote total post here.

I made the following changes:
- removed: hidden turn restrictions, not visible in mapshare - fixed 8.350
- removed: FM transmission of instructions - fixed in 8.350
- removed: no volume control of line out - both votes referenced distortion, and app 8.350 lowered the volume to fix the distortion
- rounding of MPH in mapshare - fixed in 8.350, kept robertB vote only for resolution on ONE/XL
- removed: sound distorts when volume above 85% on battery - fixed in 8.350
- removed: Mapshare road name edits did not affect the "Navigate to" road database - fixed in 8.350
- matmilw - your first post on this forum was 5/1, please repost your vote on 5/16

If you don't like how tomtom fixed some of the removed issues and their related side effects, please re-vote for fixing the side effects.

Also, Norfowl asked to set the default vote to a 1. I think defaulting to a 3 (average) is more reasonable "average" for those who didn't read the full instructions, but I'll change it if many agree with Norfowl. What do others think?

Because it is so time consuming - I'll get to fixing the formatting later.
