I could put this in the 3rd party apps section, but since I've only tested this on a TomTom ONE, I figured this forum was also appropriate.

There are a number of 3rd party apps that can be installed on the TomTom ONE. When you do, however, the Navcore7 menu icons get a bit messed up when the 3rd part app adds it's icon to the main icon menu.:

For example:
1) You lose the "HELP ME!" icon
2) You get a double "Guided Tours" icon
3) Some of the icons are in different orders

I actually found a cool program that adds an icon to your main menu that allows you to jump back to the Default TomTom menus and then allows you to jump back into the 'custom' menu where their icon is installed....this is all 'on the fly' and you don't need to connect to a computer and you don't need to power off your TomTom.

The program is called MenuTT and is located at tomtomheaven.com:
>>> MenuTT Webpage <<<

Simply copy the directories and files directly to your TomTom's root folder. The very first time you want to use the menu, may need to turn your TomTom off and then on again to boot with the menu icon.

a) First thing you'll notice is you now have 4 pages to your main menu:
MenuTT_1.gif

b) On the 3rd page you'll notice the double "Guided Tours" icon
MenuTT_2.gif

c) Scroll to the last page and you'll see the MenuTT Icon:
MenuTT_3.gif

d) Click on that icon, wait a few seconds, you should hear a little alert sound and the system restarts and you now are back to the main TomTom Menus

e) The tricky part is finding how to get back to the 'custom' menu with the MenuTT icon. This coder found a sneaky spot to add an icon without messing up any of TomTom's icon menus. Follow the following screens to find the hidden icon:

MenuTT_4.gif

MenuTT_5.gif

MenuTT_6.gif

Now, I personally speak English as my first language, so I modified the MenuPerso.cap file so that the MenuPerso (French meaning 'personal menu') stated "Scott's Personal Menu" . I also didn't like the icon, so I made my own as shown below:
MenuTT_7.gif

The MenuPerso.cap file is located in the /opt/MenuTT/ folder on the TomTom. The code I used to change the name on the icon is the following line inside the MenuPerso.cap file:
COMMAND|GEO||MenuPerso.bmp|Scott's Personal Menu|

Make sure the MenuPerso.bmp file is your new image (of size 75 x 48 pixels) to have your custom icon displayed.

I also changed the Icon and title on the Main page as well:
MenuTT_8.gif

This is the MenuTT.cap file in the /sdkregistry/ directory of your TomTom. I changed the same line as in the other file:
COMMAND|CMD||MenuTT.bmp|TomTom Default Menu|

What is that Media Center icon for? I have never seen that one on my 2nd edition.

That is a 3rd party application that turns the TomTom into an MP3 player and also an *.avi movie player. Nice application, but it isn't free (~ US$37). Future updates are supposed to add an image viewer to the suite...

You can download a trial version below:
>>> TomTom Media Center <<<

This is actually the application I added that garbled up some of the icons in Navcore7.

Thanks for the find Birdman.
I just downloaded, but haven't installed it yet, but I have the feeling the 'cool' days are back !

I wonder if this would work on a 720? When I click that icon I already have 6 menu choices. Plus I have everything installed on an SD card. Does anyone know the mount position for the SD card in a 720. I know for the internal memory it's /mnt/sdcard.

Thanks.

Many thanks Birdman -

This does work on the 720, but I could not get it to work exactly as instructed.

I added a menu item in my custom menu, specifically (for me):
MENUITEM|TASK_SDK3|

Everything else exactly as you describe

---thanks ! --

I still need to find out what the mount position is for the SD card since I have everything on a 4 GB SD card. Anyone have an idea?

Fell free to copy and paste this menu. I spent a while creating this. I just need to know how to install this with my current setup.

I allready installed this and i noticed it took my sdkregisty folder items and moved them to sdkregistry.old folder.

Sorry for the ignorance. Why SDK3? Can I and should I use SDK1 if this is the only app in the directory. How do I link that to the MenuTT.cap file in the SdkRegistry directory?

I got it to work. I guess unlike the other devices sdcard is not internal memory but the actual sdcard. I just loaded it and made the menu item, and it worked.

It doesn't work on my ONE as described either. I had to add the line
MENUITEM|TASK_SDK1| and then it worked just fine.

How do you fix the double Guided Tour icons and the messed up order of the TT icons? I added some third party apps and now my icons are not correct. Please help.

How do you fix the double Guided Tour icons and the messed up order of the TT icons? I added some third party apps and now my icons are not correct. Please help.

I have Tripmaster, calc, and Suntime installed. Look @ my menu layout in previous post. All worked fine except that the Guided tour Icons never showed up on my TT1 3rd Edition. I didn't install the icones_optionnelles folder. Maybe that's why they aren't showing up.

I got it to work too, but also had to add the SDK line to my custom menu script. Since I'm running Suntime as SDK1, I made this app SDK2.

When you push the button to have it change menus, it does pause for a fair amount of time (5 to 10 sec) before it reboots with an alarming alert sound and presents the "don't drive and stare at your GPS until you rear-end somebody or wrap your car around a tree" disclaimer.

But it does work as described. It's nice that you can have a custom menu 99% of the time, and still get at the Help Me and Map Correction buttons if necessary.

Cool

Got It Working On My 300.couldnt Figure Out How To Change Icon And Name Anyway I Do Not Know How To Make An Icon,but It Works With The Way It Is.i Just Put Suntime And Tte In The Same Reg. As The Other One.
