I could put this in the 3rd party apps section, but since I've only tested this on a TomTom ONE, I figured this forum was also appropriate.
There are a number of 3rd party apps that can be installed on the TomTom ONE. When you do, however, the Navcore7 menu icons get a bit messed up when the 3rd part app adds it's icon to the main icon menu.:
For example:
1) You lose the "HELP ME!" icon
2) You get a double "Guided Tours" icon
3) Some of the icons are in different orders
I actually found a cool program that adds an icon to your main menu that allows you to jump back to the Default TomTom menus and then allows you to jump back into the 'custom' menu where their icon is installed....this is all 'on the fly' and you don't need to connect to a computer and you don't need to power off your TomTom.
The program is called MenuTT and is located at tomtomheaven.com:
>>> MenuTT Webpage <<<
Simply copy the directories and files directly to your TomTom's root folder. The very first time you want to use the menu, may need to turn your TomTom off and then on again to boot with the menu icon.
a) First thing you'll notice is you now have 4 pages to your main menu:
b) On the 3rd page you'll notice the double "Guided Tours" icon
c) Scroll to the last page and you'll see the MenuTT Icon:
d) Click on that icon, wait a few seconds, you should hear a little alert sound and the system restarts and you now are back to the main TomTom Menus
e) The tricky part is finding how to get back to the 'custom' menu with the MenuTT icon. This coder found a sneaky spot to add an icon without messing up any of TomTom's icon menus. Follow the following screens to find the hidden icon:
Now, I personally speak English as my first language, so I modified the MenuPerso.cap file so that the MenuPerso (French meaning 'personal menu') stated "Scott's Personal Menu" . I also didn't like the icon, so I made my own as shown below:
The MenuPerso.cap file is located in the /opt/MenuTT/ folder on the TomTom. The code I used to change the name on the icon is the following line inside the MenuPerso.cap file:
COMMAND|GEO||MenuPerso.bmp|Scott's Personal Menu|
Make sure the MenuPerso.bmp file is your new image (of size 75 x 48 pixels) to have your custom icon displayed.
I also changed the Icon and title on the Main page as well:
This is the MenuTT.cap file in the /sdkregistry/ directory of your TomTom. I changed the same line as in the other file:
COMMAND|CMD||MenuTT.bmp|TomTom Default Menu|
