TomTom Model(s)
Tom Tom Bridge
Hello all, i have problem with update maps in Tom Tom Bridge, how can i do this, via wifi nothing happends.

If you go to Settings/Maps, what version map(s) does it show that you have now? It may look like 1090.11445 (Classic) or it may look like 2022.03.43764 (NDS).

Not knowing if your device is using 'classic' or 'NDS' maps, I can't yet say what the download process will look like since that depends upon which you have. NDS allows you to update each map segment separately. 'Classic' requires updating the whole map at one time.

Once we know this we can try to walk through the process.

That is an old NDS style map.
Now that I know that, let's see what we can do.

If you select Maps from the menu, is there something at the top that says "Your active map does not support updates" (or however that translates in your language)?

If not, what do you see on the far right side of the page across from each map segment in your map list?

Hi I have this same problem. Is there a solution

When I go to try and update the maps it says your active map does not support updates.

The map shows Europe 45142 (2022.09)
The automatic update and update all buttons don't do anything.

When I click system update it states system is up do date. Previously on my old bridge it would show map updates available.

I hope maybe you can point me in the right direction

Aidan

So your device has an NDS map. Good to know.

That message indicates that it's probably not going to be possible to get a map over WiFi.

When you boot your device, does it ever show a Webfleet logo, or only TomTom? That will tell us where one would need to go to obtain a new map, if possible.

It only shows Tomtom bridge. So indicates it's not a webfleet unit. (My previous bridges were webfleet)
It's confusing me because all my other Tomtom bridge I've owned have been able to update via WiFi. I bought this unit as new just this week and the maps says unable to update.

Software is up-to-date with most recent firmware but map no. It's not the end of the world but ideally it would be good to at least keep the map up to date.

Your help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm going to be out all day today, but this evening, I'll get back to you with a site to visit that should provide you with the file you need for the map update.

That would be really appreciated. I've looked on Tomtom administrator website and there are lots of different downloads. I have a SD card I can use to potentially update, (never done that before) so would need to find out how to do it. If possible.

Well, I was going to send you here for an NDS map download
https://mdm.business.tomtom.com/static/#/downloads
but the doggone site is down. I DO hope it's only temporary! In fact, the whole https://mdm.business.tomtom.com url seems to be down at present.

If that's not the site where you were going, please let me know and point me to where you were. I can help select the correct file for an NDS 8270.

Yes, you would have placed the content on a uSD card, and your device would have discovered the new content and installed it.

I have another question.
The serial number on my Tomtom bridge I picked up supposably new this week is OU6428100066 and model 4F1722
When I search for information on bridge online I can't find any information on units starting with serial number OU.

My other bridge has a serial number starting OC and model 4F170 and that shows up

The OC model was for Europe (came with Europe maps),
Includes 2G/3G/WiFi/Bluetooth & NFC connectivity,
Includes a front facing camera.

If you're reading it right, the OU model shouldn't be a 'normal' a Bridge. It's what we called InCube. It's a small module that can be tucked away that uses a separate HDMI video display and was for the Australian market. All of the functionality is the same as Bridge, though. I have one of those here as well (North American 'OS' version). I'm wondering if we have some serial number confusion somewhere.

The standalone units like your OC had serial prefixes OC, OE, OG and OJ. Sure yours isn't an OJ? That was also available in Europe.

Say, you never did tell me what site you were looking at that was still working and offered a selection of files. Can you help us out with that? I was shooting for the old developer's site with that url I showed. Not sure where I'll get my next downloaded NDS map for my TomTom Bridge now! Still MIA. I may poke around further - they may have just renamed something in url.

The unit definitely has the OU serial code and matches the box which says Tomtom Bridge Europe Map on the back of the box.

The sire I was looking at was https://developer.tomtom.com/bridge/documentation/downloads/releases

Knowing me it's probably the wrong site. Basically what I can't understand at the moment is I've had a few Tomtom bridge and 8275 and the maps have always been able to update. But for some reason this unit with serial number OU6428100066 has a europe map installed (2022/09) that won't allow updating. I'm confused as why? And how is this possible.

I suppose it would help if I had my head screwed on straight. https://developer.tomtom.com/bridge/downloads/releases is indeed the correct site. I was trying to bring up the old Webfleet site, which is pretty obvious when you look at the url (sigh). Need more sleep!

OK, so you have an 8275, you're in the UK, you have NDS maps. You'll be wanting the very first package in the list, europe.zip v 2023.12.46313. So start downloading!

Pay careful attention to the warning on that web site about the entire Europe map not fitting on a 16GB device. You'll need to edit the content of the *.zip file to pare things down a bit.

First, you'll want to remove specific countries that you won't need by editing the package-list.content.europe file so that the update, which is driven by the package list, is only looking for things that can still be found to install. You'll see a long list of '-region-' entries for specific map areas that you can exclude through removal. Note that the size of each -region- entry isn't something you can see, so you'll want to be safe and remove all of them that you're confident you'd never visit. Also, the file will have a full duplicate set of entries that say "3d" that contain the pretty 3D buildings that go along with maps IF you want them. Getting rid of ALL of those saves a huge amount of space in case you need to keep more of the country entries.

If you never want to visit Bulgaria, you would delete both of these lines:

{ "name": "europe-region-107-bulgaria", "path": "map/europe-region-107-bulgaria_2023.12.46313_all.ttpkg", "version": "2023.12.46313", "group": "map-europe", "parent": "europe-map" },

and

{ "name": "europe-region-107-bulgaria-3d", "path": "map/europe-region-107-bulgaria-3d_2023.12.46313_all.ttpkg", "version": "2023.12.46313", "group": "map-europe", "parent": "europe-map" },

Next, you'll want to delete all of the corresponding items in the 'map' folder. Each item you deleted in the package list can and should be removed from the 'map' folder.

Once you've cleaned out everything you don't need, you can move the remaining content of the *.zip file to the root of a 16GB uSD card and install it in your 8270. Be sure to retain the folder structure of the *.zip file intact when you transfer everything to the card. Your card should have files like rescue.img in the root when you're done, and folders like boot, apk and map.

Next time your 8270 is booted, it will discover the new firmware and map data on the uSD card, and suggest that it be installed.

Of interest ... my Webfleet connected OJ device was just offered the 11.25 (the old classic style, not NDS) map this morning via WiFi. I'm always disappointed at how long it takes to push maps out for these devices. The production devices with classic maps are already on 11.30 - a full update ahead.

I'm due to update my TomTom connected OU device with NDS maps, so when I get to that, I'll watch to see if there need to be any new modifications to my instructions, above. I also have to download and use the uSD card method for the update process. I don't take this particular device to Canada or Mexico, so I can delete those items from the package to easily save enough space.
