TomTom GO 510 Emulator slow as a slug!

Given Tomtom's confirmation, it probably looks like there's nothing else you can do about this.

Just to check - I fired up my old Tomtom 510, and had no issues with Operate my GO on app 7.903. It had really old maps (version 6) so perhaps the emulator slowness is only when you run with the version 8 maps.

mvl, I will try another SD card. I have ordered a Lexar 2GB Professional 133X SD card which should arrive within a week. I will load the Kodak (made by Lexar) card's data onto the Lexar Pro card, and let you know if there's any improvement or not. (I read your post on the "Bugs" thread, thanks.)

mvl, I've used the new 133x card for two weeks now. I see no change in Emulator speed when the GO is connected to TomTom HOME--it's still slow as molasses.

There seems to be a slight increase in "road analysis" speed when not connected to the computer; but that's the only difference I see.

Bottom line...my Emulator function ("Operate my device" in TomTom HOME 2.7) just doesn't work very well at all.

Thanks anyhow for helping with the troubleshooting.

Since the last software update to TomTom HOME 2.6.2.1586 (App Version 7.903), my GO 510 is as slow as a slug when operated via my computer. Anyone else with this problem?? I contacted TomTom some time ago and they said it would be corrected with the next update; but I've heard nothing further. Are all GO 510s with HOME 2.6.2.1586/App 7.903 acting this way?? It is extremely  bothersome!!! Thanks in advance for your response.

to speed up tomtom home you must reset to default settings but make sure you backup all downloads other then newest because they will be deleted. Click on the following and follow what is said. good luck

TomTom, portable GPS car navigation systems - Support home - Select your product

Thanks doctormstein1; but doing that procedure had no positive effect. The emulator is still painfully slow. In fact, if anything, it ran even slower--a 150 yard "route demo" takes roughly 15 seconds to complete.

Frankly, I no longer believe TomTom has a fix for this issue, nor do I think they even care my unit doesn't perform as it should. Their negative attitude toward my "bogus map update" proves it to me...
