I think I deleted something I should not have and now I cannot enter my street address. It is like it cannot find it. The unit hangs, then shuts down and starts over, only to hang again at the point I want to enter my street. It will give me my location coordinates and speed, but cannot tell me what street I am on.

I wonder if I could find a place I could download the orignal file/software that was loaded on my unit when I purchased it and start all over.

My unit is a TomTom One (30 seried)125/130.

I have tried a reset, uninstall/install, hard and soft resets to no avail.

Uninstall/reinstall what, the application?

Don't suppose you have a backup (hopefully Explorer)...

When you connect to the computer and look at the contents of your unit, do you see a specific map folder like USA_Canada and, if so, are there files in it?

uninstalled/reinstalled the application per TomTom recommendation.
No backup of initial setup.
I am telling you, I have this thing so messed up that I need to start over with the original files from somewhere or somebody.

You didn't answer my question......

Do you have a map installed on the unit? What does it show?

Looking at the unit in Home, maps do not show. Looking at the drive in Explorer USA and Canada file is listed.

Yes sir. I guess it was the original or my free update. Probably not installed correctly. With all the thngs I have been trying, some probably not correct. I have formated the unit, copy and pasted files, followed TomTom directions on uninstall/reinstall, flash tool, hard and soft restart, factory reset, etc. With all this stuff going on, that is why I am asking for the original software that was installed on the unit, so I can start over.

OK, after more hours than I care to think about, I now have my TomTom working somewhat. I now have it back to my original problem. When I want to enter my location and get to entering my street, it freezes. It will recognize my coordinates and speed, but does not seem to know what road I am on.

Looking at my unit in Home, it says I have a map file called USA_and_Canada v.845.2666 830mb.

Now that you've got a map and are more or less running...

Get your TomTom connected to your PC. If Home runs, just shut it down as soon as you can.

BACK UP everything that you have right now using Windows (not Home) to your PC - create a folder, and copy the entire TomTom "drive" to it.

Next, delete all of the loose files in the "root" of your TomTom. Do NOT delete any of the folders, ESPECIALLY your map folder!

Shut down your TomTom and restart it while connected to your computer. You'll want Home's Update feature, and it will offer you the application software for your unit that you just deleted. Go ahead and let that download and install. Disconnect your TomTom properly using Home and then disconnect it from your computer.

Start up your TomTom and see if the problems you were having are now gone.

I followed your suggestions and the result was no change. I ask the unit to find where I was and it located the coordinates, but did not know the road. When I try to set my locations via HOME, it freezes at the street entry. Is my current map file corrupted?

It may very well be corrupt.

Call CS (866-486-6866) and explain the situation. Ask that they make the current map available as a download for you in Home via Add Maps.

I called TT customer service this morning. I was pleasantly surprised in that I did not need to wait more than 15 seconds. The CS person had me try some things, but they did not work. I called back and CS set up that I would have a download in my account of the map file that I felt was corrupted. Download that and installed it on the TT and now all works as it should. I immediately made a backup via explorer, as was recommended on this site. So, thanks to all who submitted things for me to try. This is certainly a nice site. I was also impressed with TT Customer Service. Did not need to wait, the two people I talked to were very helpful and courteous!
