I think that a little of the confusion has been about your use of "hooked up to pc".it says poor gps signal inside and outside for hours it only works hooked up to pc
If you mean that it appears to work when you're running TomTom Home on your PC, the folks above have explained that Home is only a simulation. There's no satellite data being sent from the GPS to the PC. It just picks whatever spot you have previously called "here". So it isn't really "working" when you are running the Home program.
IF - on the other hand - you are saying that your unit works and shows live satellites from its own touchscreen interface only when it is plugged in to your PC - that's another story altogether.
Since you weren't clear about which was the case originally, not everyone was following your issues clearly.
