operated in home picks up sats great. but when i run without pc there is no activity at all with the reception it just says poor gps signal.any ideas ????

When was the last time you downloaded a quickgpsfix?

And you should have the unit in an open area with the unit stationary to have the best opportunity to grab a signal.

i have the latest update of quickfix theres just no activity at all.but picks up like 10 sats when pluged into computer
also it is a 325xl se

It isn't picking up any GPS signal when connected to Home all its doing is simulation, take the device outside and switch it on, tap the sat strength meter lower right and on the next screen is another smaller GPS signal meter top right, tap that. The resultant screen is the GPS summary and you should see some activity on the bar graphs, firstly in grey then Blue as the device works the position out, also on this screen is a small yellow/ blue disk (top right) does this appear stationary or is it spinning - Mike

Reset the device, if its got a reset hole on the base give it a prod with a paperclip, if there is no reset hole press and hold the on/ off switch until the device reboots - you won't lose and settings/ data doing this and its worth a try, then take it back outside for ten minutes and see if its any better - if not it sounds like the GPS receiver has died - Mike

what i need is the corect navcore it all started from deleting my ap and it would not update to new one tomtom support couldnt get me as far as this forum has so far .

What model do you have and what is the application version? (tap the satellite bars and the next screen shows the app version).

When you connect to Home, does it offer an updated application?

i currentley have the system deleted the navcores i have are 8.082 12008 and also 8.010.9369
it works with 8.08but has no gps activity.
and does not work with 8.010 it is theblack edition xl325se.
i would have to reinstall the navcore to get the aplication version

Well, I'm confused.......the Navcore IS the application. Are you saying your unit is non-functional because you have NO application installed?

If that is NOT the case (iow, it IS functional), then what is the version installed? [you can only have 1 version running at any given time]

im saying after tt had me reformat my gps because the application would not update they sent me a link witch was navcore 8.010 and it did not work them guys on the phone r usless idiots after hours of trying there idvicei couldnt evan power my unit up.so i came here and got the navcore 8.08 i can now operate and power the unit up but it has no activity. it says poor gps signal.
it should say gps signal lost or waiting for valid signal/

Does it say that when the unit is outside in an open area in a stationary position? (Keep it there for at least 10 minutes)

i use this for work i had it all over the city while working it has no activity at all wich means when i go into configure sats there is no activity at all nothing zilch but when i hook it up to pc to operate it works

But did you try to get a signal while it was STATIONARY outside? And did you wait for 10 minutes at least before moving the car.

Also, Some windshields are anathermic and affect the signal getting to the gps unit. Did you try for a signal OUTSIDE the car and stationary?

Well it's not like you have given us a lot of information to go on! A couple of times you have indicated that when you connect the unit to your computer it works just fine (with 10 satellites seen). As the moderator has said, when you connect your unit to the computer it is not working in GPS mode at all. It is not receiving any signals from the satellites and what you are seeing is just a simulation.

Once you get the correct navcore version installed and then take it outside in a stationary location for about 10 minutes it should pick up the satellites. If that does not happen then I would say you have a defective unit. If it still under warranty I would send it back to Tom Tom. You might also want to try to swap it out from your retailer.

Sorry you're disappointed with the free service you got here.

ive had private dicussions on here and am waiting for a email from someone with a link is what the problem is im just frusterated and did not mean to vent on here
