No Canada Map

I purchased a TOMtom GPS at WallMart Amherst Buffalo on June28th,09. I was told it comes pre loaded with Latest US and Canada Map. After coming to Niagara Falls ,I found I cannot plan my route to my home home in Toronto as it did not have the Canada Map.
Wall Mart says either I could return it or speak to TOM TOm who sould allow me to down load the Canada Map.
On June 29th,09 the following Monday I called, tech support explain what happened.

Hope for a solution to prevent Wallmart sellng TOMTOMs to Canadians without Canada Map!!!

For starters.......what model TomTom did you buy? As far as I know, only the 125 had no Canadian map.

Report back and we'll then see what we can do.

WORD CANADA310 IS PRINTED CLOSE TO POWER LIGHT.

Wall mart told me it is preloaded with latest US and Canada Maps.

If you turn the unit on right now.......

Does it show your current location properly in Ontario where you live?

So when you try to navigate to

address

street and house number or city center

the next screen you see the state icon....if you touch it and cycle up and down you don't see Canada ?

If you tap the satellite bars, the next screen shows the version number. Tap the version number and what does the next screen say? Does it say USA&Canada?

Think it's as PSJ posted...when you select the city, you need to tap the flag (top right of screen) to get to the Canada flag. It's probably showing New York (state).

And did you try to find the CAN map in the Navigate To-->City screen?

Last shot before being convinced you have the wrong map.....

Use Windows Explorer to look at the contents of your unit when it is connected to the computer. Look for a bunch of folders. There should be one called United States and Canada.

If there is only a folder called United States, then call support at 866-486-6866.

Either you don't have the model you think you do or you haven't got the map you should be having.

I connected TomTom XL to computer, It does not have a folder " United States and Canada" . The folder "United states" is available.

First time ever I've seen the .2285.
Anyway, if I was you, I would return it and get another one, save me a lot of hassle dealing with CSR.

Prasanna, let us know what Tomtom support says. If your model was supposed to come with the US/Canada map, Tomtom phone support can add it to your account on the spot and give you a free download.

App 8.080 is only for the newer XL 330 models (like your RM serial number). I haven't seen a post yet of anyone with that firmware release, you're the first. Did it come with the 830.2285 map installed, or did you already upgrade using "Latest map guarantee"?

Hopefully this isn't a sign that Tomtom is releasing an even more stripped-down version of the 330 for Walmart.

I wouldn't be too surprised, Walmart pushes really hard for low costs, I usually only see 1-year old models sold there, Tomtom doesn't want to push any of their higher end models through that channel.

I'll check out my Walmart next time I'm in - this model has piqued my curiosity...

WOW, I have the exact same problem... I bought this TT 1 3rd ed like 6 months. I was using in USA map all the time, untill yesterday I wanted to plan my route to Ontario, Canada.. Holy moly, no Canada map ( Well, it was too late to call CSR. But I managed to navigate to Niagara Fall in NY . As I type this comment, Im in Canada side now.
How come Canada map didn't preinstalled..Will I get a free copy of Canada map, if call up csr?

Sorry for the late reply....I went ahead and downloaded the Canadian/Alaska map(49.00).
Cuz, I really needed..We need drive up to Toronoto on the next day.

The OP probably bought the XL 325 (all of his firmware info is identical to mine) which is the same model I just bought at Wal-Mart the other day. It does NOT come with Canada maps and does not have an SD card slot to upgrade maps.

Does your model display the same (at least first five) alphanumeric number as Prasanna's?

The 325 showed up on tomtom.com without any fanfare.

My local Walmarts don't have live demos, but they don't say "Canada" on their Tomtom XL specs. I haven't seen a 325 anywhere except Walmart so far, it may be a Walmart-only special model.
