New Larger POI Files

How to:

I am fairly computer literate but I don't know how to go about loading the POI files on to my existing ONE V2 with a 2 gig card. There is a post on the ONE section that says it works and is great. Can someone help with this?

Just unzip the two files and copy them to the map folder on your one. You will have to delete or overwrite the two existing files by the same name....poi.dat and crpoi.dat. use a file manager to do the copy...not home.

just to be safe you might want to back up your unit first, but the new files work just fine.

Read the post carefully. The attachment is just the brand logos. The inline link takes you to a download service where the big POI file can be found. It's a couple hundred megs.

It depends on where your maps are stored. The POI files have to be in the map folder. If your maps are stored on the SD card then, no problem. If your maps are stored in the internal memory then the POI files have to go there for the TT to use them.

Ok, so you copy the 2 files into the map folder. Where do you put the Brand folder...? Same place? (Copy the folder into the Map folder. DO NOT copy the Brand files into the Map folder... correct?)

Yes, but the .ov2 you want to use with the map on the SD card have to be in that card's map folder.

Shortly after starting, the download slows to a crawl, then times out with only about 1 meg received. This has occurred eight times, so far today...

However, I was able to grab the earlier 800.rar file, also from Megaupload, amid my unsuccessful attempts at your 805.zip.

Hi, new Tomtom 720 user here. I downloaded and copied the files over for the new POI. Seems fine, but now there are some double Category listings: for example, I have two different categories called "Schools" and a few others are this way as well. I assume I can't just delete one of the categories because there may be POI's in there, right? What should I do - just leave them?
