mydriveconnection

OK, my drive screen is just sitting there doing nothing with the spinning circle going round.
The sat nav screen flashes checking for updates please keep device connected

Sonething definately wrong, my satnav IS connected to the PC using a socket at the BACK of the tower. It's charging no problem yet, my drive says not connected:mad:

I suppose that's possible, Arno. Of all of the systems I've seen in the last few years, all were brought up to SP3 level. I was a little surprised to see the OP was still on SP2. Of course, that assumes that he is using XP 32 bit. If he's running XP 64 bit, I think that max'd out at SP2.

Looking around at other software that has caused this.

To the OP:

Is your box REALLY old? Perhaps not even a Pentium III unit??? Seems SSE (or even SSE2) is required for many newer apps to run when this error message occurs. Meanwhile, I'm trying to pin down for certain that this support is required.

Here is a link to some CPU identification software >>> http://cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

What we want to review is indicated in the following screen shot from that app:

Canderson, I'm running an AMD Athlon 2900+ socket A CPU. According to CPU-Z I have MMX (+), 3DNow! (+) and SSE instructions. The funny thing is, MyDrive was running fine until I "upgraded" to V4. Since then I've had nothing but trouble. Thanks for all the help. :)

No clue what's going on there, Alex. It would seem that your system has the requisite bits to make this software work, but we must have missed something. Have it running on two fairly old XP systems here - now that they've got an 'XP' version released, and no issues.

So do you still have a functional copy of the last v3 release that you can install to get you running again? There are no features on your Via1530 that should require the newer MyDrive version.

On the laptop, I suggest the same fixes to try to fix the driver not found issue:
- Install SP3
- Install latest dotnet
- Download the latest MyDrive4 (there are already 2 updates in the first week of launch)

First off, I appreciate the help. I've just about giving up getting V4 or "any" version to work on my desktop. I did successfully install V4 on my laptop (WinXP Pro SP2) but getting the driver not found error. Will try the advice at https://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16339/related/1 and see if that is the ticket. Will get back to you. :)

Success on the laptop! Go here for info about installing drivers: http://us.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16359/related/. If you're having SSL certificate errors, please see: https://us.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20315.

Now, to get the desktop squared away.

Indeed .. the 'driver' is critical to MyDrive operation. It's what converts the USB logical connection to a logical TCP/IP connection (called 'bridge' software), and is why these newer devices show up along with the network cards in Device Manager.
