Map removal

thanks Andy , does the transfer speed matter ? the cheap ones are about 4mb/s or is that the class 6 thing you are talking about?
 
Yes, the "class" is just a unified way to describe the general speed of the card (different manufacturers used to use different methods to measure the speed (or you might say - "cheat"!)

There's a little chart here (Plus more info than you could ever want...)
 
PNY is an OK brand and has been in the business for quite some time.

As for the previous "Class 6 or better" comment ... Class 6 seems to be the sweet spot for these devices. They are slowed slightly by use of a Class 4, but don't seem to benefit from a Class 10. So it's really a matter of what you can find in at least a Class 6 for a price.

I didn't see the "ST" serial called a 'World' model, but it indeed is an 8GB version with full maps, and a microSD card slot. TomTom released a whole bunch of units and called them 1005, so knowing the first two digits of the serial number is about the only way to keep their specific features straight.
