Hi, I have a new TomTom Rider 2nd version with map version 667 (TeleAtlas?).

When I go to the TeleAtlas site, and check on "report map changes", I can find my home town and it shows all the street names, etc. Any yet, on my TomTom Rider it only shows that the streets are actually there, but with no names and no POI's. I live in Morden, Manitoba, Canada pop. 7500. There is a slightly bigger town only 7 miles away, and it shows all of the street names, poi's, etc.

I have done the update on the TomTom Go site, but it still doenst give me any street names at all. What gives?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Here's a shot of downtown Morden with some restaurant POIs showing. This is from the map USA_and_Canada 7.10.

Your present map seems to be badly behind.

Thanks much!

Wonder why a brand new unit would have such an outdated map? (V667)

Where would I buy that version?, and does the TomTom Go program not do updates to newer maps?

I suppose I will have to purchase it.

Cheers!

Forgot to ask, is there a way to download my town?...although if my town doesnt show street names, poi's, etc., I wonder how many other places in Canada will be like that as well.

Sorta disappointing actually.

Cheers!

Are you sure your Rider2 has TeleAtlas maps on it? The TT1 used NavTec and although I have not done a detailed check, I'm pretty sure my TTR2 is NavTec as well.

Did you try the 'Latest Map Guarantee' thru the 'Home' program? If that doesn't work, get on the phone to TomTom. You should be eligible for the new maps.

You know, I am not entirely sure what it has for certain. I thought I read somewhere that it is TeleAtlas.
How would one double check it?
Cheers

hmm...not sure I have noticed that information. Will double check and get in touch with TomTom (somehow?).

Cheers

TomTom are sly ones and have not made the free map upgrade feature obvious. When you open 'Home v2.1', click on the 'File' dropdown menu and you will see it!

Its odd, the download says its for Rider and Navigator 6. No mention of Rider 2.

If you go to the UK site, in the drop down list (on the support page, which is a horrible joke) it will show the Rider 2. In the Canada/US support, it only has the Rider in the drop down.

Here is the link where I downloaded the HOME, but still end up with V1.5

Any other help would be appreciated.

Well, after much farting around, I have found the mystical magic V2.1. I had to actually go to the UK site, and "tripped" across it by using the support section over and over again.

My goodness, the Support site and web site in general for TT is probably the worst I have come across in an awful long time.

When I used the feature to check for the latest map, it says my unit has the most up-to-date map. I believe this to be not so,as there is a V7.1 available which actually shows the street names and poi's for my home town.

Cheers!

I downloaded v2.1 without any issue from the UK site but i am wondering what the point was - what are the new features of 2.1 over 1.5?

The main diff is that with the v2.1 you have a feature that allows you to download the latest map versions without paying.

This has to be done within 30 days of the unit being initially used.

I have been told by some other members that the latest map for Can/US is v7.10 and includes the street names/poi's of my home town. The current v667 on my new TT Rider2 only shows the streets, no names, no poi's.

Cheers

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

well, here's the deal

I had installed HOME 2.1 using the UK site

I finally got ahold of a rep on the phone (an hour wait)

Seems the 2.1 is not compatable with the TT R2, hence the shut down problem.

I re-installed 1.5 and no further issues.

But, you dont have that "latest map guarentee" feature.

It took a wee bit of coaxing, but TT gave me the latest map available for the TT rider2. It is v675. Apparently the v7.10 isnt compatable for our Rider 2.

The 675 does show the street names and poi's that were missing in the v667 that was in my new unit.

The girl actually stayed on the phone to assist me with the removal of 2.1 and installing the new map on my Tom.

I am happy again.

Cheers!

Thanks rcacs

That starts to make some sense because when I downloaded Home 2.1 I noticed that it did not list the TTR2 as one of the units supported - of course, that didn;t stop me from downloading it and getting rid of 1.5!

So I guess I need to do what you did and get rid of 2.1 and get 1.5 back on my computer:rolleyes:
