How to make the tomtom 910 turn on and off with the car!

On/off works but...

Hi, I'm a TT newbie with a 910 -
The ignition off works flawlessly. But now my Motorola V3 won't connect with the TT910 - it momentarily connects, then 910 disconnects the phone. How sad! I restored the origina TTSYSTEM file and all is back to normal. I really love that on/off feature, but I love the bt connection more.:(

Hello there,

It is actually kind of funny you say that because in the original thread (where you can get the recompiled file), there is a user complaining of BT connection with his/her phone. Perhaps this is an accidental symptom of the new code change?!?!

Ignition Off/Moto BT

Yes, my TT910 shipped with an older version of the firmware - I tried to get my razr to pair, but no luck (although my phone recognized the TT) When I updated the firmware, Voila'! Now I'm paired up, traffic works and the whole nine yards. It seems to me that there is a connection between the two features? (sorry for the bad pun!)

ps.
A TT noob, but not a gadget noob....

It certainly does look like there is a connection cited by your example. I guess then users have to choose whether the on/off feature is more important than the BT connection.

Anyone else who tried the modified file having problems with BT connections with their phones?

bt connection is not a problem for me battery bar is and like someone said before talking thrue tomtom is somehow not good voice double or you got echo or voices intorupted but bt connects fine tmobile nokia 6133
i will be going back to original unless this gets fixed who ever changed this file want to say good job hopefully it will get better thanks

Wow, my topic got stuck :)

I am going to try this new file after I hardwire a new cigarette outlet to my fusebox with a 3 way extension :)

It worked pretty well as far as shutting the unit down, but it also put me about 6 miles off on the map. I'm in North America though, maybe it only works in UK?

Hello and welcome.

6 miles off the map?? that a huge gap.
If they problem reoccurs, I would switch it back.

ok i dont know if this new or it acctually tweaked by tomtom i replace ttsystem few times just to test and i am back to original one now when i turn the car on with tomtom already on the holder but turned off i start my car and guess what tomtom starts is that something new or you guys know about it but it does not turn off when i turn off the car

Sorry I had a difficult time understanding your question.

The unit turns automatically on when the car charger is connected. The only thing it doesn't do is shut off. This is why the file was needed.

sorry, thats what i meant i never knew that i acctually turns it self on thanks pedro

Turn Off

I have a GO 910 and was wondering how to get the file for the auto turn off that is spoken about in this thread? Also where to install the file on the GPA? Thank you.

Before you do anything...

WARNING: Before attempting this you MUST do a FULL backup of your TT910 as you are replacing a system file. This backup should include your TTS voices. If you fail to backup these voices you will have to send your unit to TT as those voices are not packaged in the OEM CD.

Once you have backed up, connect your TT910 to the computer and browse to the SD card. You will see a file called 'ttsytem'. This file will be replaced with the modified version that has the 'turn off' feature. Even though you have done a backup, you should copy the orignal ttsystem from your 910 to your local drive for easy restoration.

You can download the modified version here. The file that you download should have the name 'ttsystem', it should not have any file extension (i.e. .txt). You copy this file and place it in the TT910 hard drive replacing the original. Thats it.

(Credit goes to Andrew Crane for making the code change. Also dpavao and Pedro2NR for being the beta testers :p)

Let us know how it goes for you.
I replaced the file back to my original one.
I didn't like how my phone conversations were sounding.
I sometimes hear words being repeated.
