:)I recently downloaded maps of New Zealand to my GO720. I live in Australia but can not see anything on my Go720 to say that the maps are there. Do I need to be in New Zealand for it to work. Any help in this regard would be appreciated as I leave for the NZ very soon. Kind regards Col

Do a pin reset on the unit (reset hole on the bottom of device) and try the Manage Maps process again.

No.

You sure you did download the map?

Connect to Home-->Manage my Device (2nd page, purple folder)-->Items on Device-->maps, what does it show?

How about Items on Computer-->Maps, what shows there?

And you are SURE that Manage Maps-->switch maps doesn't show a second map (New Zealand)? I know I asked but ......

okay, let's try this:
1. Make an Explorer, not Home, backup of your unit's contents. See here:
https://www.tomtomforums.com/t17864-how-backup-contents-your-unit-computer-how-restore.html

2. Then see if you can do this. A manual instal.
See here: https://www.tomtomforums.com/t18197-how-install-downloaded-map-without-using-home.html

Hi I managed to do the backup but failed a manual instal. My computer would not allow me to go into documents & settings so I could not go fast this point.
I went into my computer G: tomtom and could see the files on my devise.
will try banging my head againt the wall to see if that works.

Control Panel-->Folder Options-->View-->Advanced Settings-->Show hidden files and folders (check this option).

Should allow access to Documents and Settings.

A trusted friend suggested to download and open the TakeOwnership.zip file from the web which will unzip to two files
InstallTakeOwnership.reg
RemoveTakeOwnership.reg

I do not remember from which site I go it but here is a possibility:

CAUTION !
I cannot vouch for this URL and anyone should use the usual precautions of making an individual scan with your Anti Virus software before unzipping anything downloaded from the Internet.
