Go Exclusive must be connected by cable to the cigarette lighter charger.

Not without some kind of inline 12V to 5V adapter, no. A straight 12V hardwired connection would let all of the smoke out.

Thank everyone for the advice I have had a word with TomTom Customer services and I am returning the go exclusive because I cannot use it in my car. My hand keeps on hitting the cable because the connection is near my gearstick so I’m sending it back for a refund. Thank you once again

Have you tried moving it?

How did you install your GO, because if your GPS is close to your gear lever, you should not use the Click and Drive mount?
