GPSFIX Not Updating

# Don't allow it to "fix" any files with the ".chk" extension to the filename.

Windows thinks they are left-over file fragments from previous crashes, which can be safely deleted.
But on a TomTom (Linux-based) they are something completely different (voice files, warning sounds etc.)
I don't worry about Windows trying to 'fix' files like that .. they're what Windows creates after it's already tried to 'fix' something <no!> However, his file system may have real issues that we need to clean up. Our more typical malfunction is that a user sees the *.chk files and thinks that Windows has created them and manually deletes them!

Windows "disk cleanup" definitely tries to/wants to delete the .chk files.

Surely Win7 does not automatically invoke a cleanup on device connection, only a chkdsk/scandisk operation when the directory structure looks iffy? I got the impression that this is what the OP was seeing.

No Idea, I don't have Win 7. I thought it just seemed safest to tell the OP of any possible issues....

Back again. I completed a successful backup following the instructions here. No error messages occurred during the copying process. I may have, at some point, disconnected my device when I should not have.
