I don't see this documented but it seems that my 1XLS has 2 different off states.
One is completely off and when pressing power button it displays tom tom logo and plays sound then displays startup graphic.
Other it goes straight to the start up graphic.
One seems like a sleep mode and happens when the power button is pressed. The other longer boot happens when battery as gone dead, sd insert or removal or after an usb update.
Do others see this?
