Agreed, no WiFi (that would be the 5200), but the 5100 does have Bluetooth. That's what it uses for connections for traffic, safety cams, and the 'TT cloud' through the MyDrive phone app. TomTom uses the really basic SPP (Bluetooth Serial Port Profile) between the device and phone app. Originally (late 2013?), this allowed the user to get around any phone 'tethering' issues with cellular providers that either didn't allow it, or charged big money for it.

hi im new here and i wonder if you can help me i have a go 5100 i have had it since it came out last week all of a sudden no sound no spoken directions no drum roll when i turn it on everything else works i can connect it to my computer just no sounds ive reset it updated it still nothing

Check that all are activated.

hi yep everything is on so it should be saying something but nothing all services are working

yes a soft reset and a full factory reset still nothing

Have you tried changing the voice normally it is Malcolm or Serena but you can try the other voices.

If there is no drum roll, no voices, would the speaker be dead?

possable but can you get spares for them

The GO 5100 can no longer be repaired by Tomtom.
I find it strange that it is the speaker that is dropped?

Easy enough to test the existing speaker. Disconnect and tickle a 1.5V battery across its leads.

If it's the speaker that has failed, they're available here and there.

thanks for that ive ordered a new on off ebay should be here in about 3 days if it isnt then i will be miffed as the new tomtoms use a phone for the live traffic unlike my go 5100 which has a build in sim card
