TomTom Model(s)
TomTom go superior
Hello,
I have just registered to join the TomTom forum, and apologise in advance if I am in the wrong section.
I have just bought a TomTom go superior 7 inch. This is my fourth Tom Tom device and I need advice about charging it. I have tried to message TomTom about it, but I can’t find the answer.
I use my device about 4 times a year, travelling about 800 to 1000 miles each time.
My question is , when not in use, how often should I charge it, and when?
Many thanks.

For 'longer term' storage, lithium ion prefers to be at about 50% (not 100%) for maximum life. Lithium ion typically loses about ~2% per month, and if you're using it every 3 months or so, you'll never even notice that.

hello to you, well my tom tom 825 live go keeps starting up then shutting down after a short while why??...is it due to a battery issue etc??

Hi,
If your battery is the original, it may no longer hold a charge, so you need to replace it.
But first, have you tried a different cable?

yes no change in that at all but i can buy a new battery and place that in but will that be the issue etc is this a common issue due to that issue i am having??

You can check if it's actually a battery problem.

Charge your GPS on a smartphone charger for 2 hours, then unplug it and check how long it stays powered on.

i try to use my device everyday too if i can

so how long will it last if ok??

If the battery stays on for more than an hour, it is not discharged. So check that your cigarette lighter charger is working properly.

IF it does discharge then its the battery correct or not???..........i doubt if my cigarette lighter is faulty in the car though

If you charge your 825 on a good mains charger for a phone for a few hours, and your battery lasts longer than about 15 minutes off charge, I'd be very impressed. If it won't last that long, your battery is definitely ready for replacement.
