Go exclusive 7 MyDrive iPhone connect issues

Help needed! I have purchased a tomtom go exclusive plus and I cannot get it connected to my iPhone with MyDrive so that I can have the phone features working?? It connects with the Bluetooth and hotspot and I receive traffic no issues but when I try to connect MyDrive and the iPhone I just get an error message. I have reset the device, deleted/reinstalled the MyDrive app and followed the help answers to no avail. This was not cheap and at the moment I just feel like cutting my loses and getting rid of it. The customer service side of things is shocking also and the robot help isn’t exactly helpful.
 
On Iphone are you trying to connect with the QR code?

On your phone, install the Tomtom My Drive app
Open the MyDrive app on your phone.
Follow the on-screen introductions and log in to your Tomtom account.
 
No I haven’t used any QR codes I just follow the instructions it gives but it just fails every time on the last bit. I have forgot device on both the tomtom and phone, uninstalled and reinstalled but without any luck. The tomtom does connect via the bluetooth connection and traffic works as does the hotspot but it’s to use the phone features I need the MyDrive app to connect and it won’t ??
