XL340S Time Issue

I have an issue with my brand new XL340S that I bought on Black Friday @ Target for $97. It will not show the correct time. It is always 5 hours ahead. Please help with ANY suggestions!
 
might be a dumb question and i dont mean to sound rude but did u set ur time, go into preferences

again im not tryin to be rude
 
Make sure you have a good gps signal before doing the adjust time. When you have it, change the hour to the correct hour. Click done. Exit and return to the Set Time option. This time click on 'sync'. (Won't be there without a gps signal).

Should be ok now.
 
Time Issue solved

I did go into the preferences when I had it connected to my computer and the set time option did not appear. What I did find was that when I do not connect it to my computer I get additional menu choices under preferences and one of them is to set the current time. Why would they limit your setting of preferences when connected to the Tom-Tom home? It doesn't make any sense but the issue is solved. Thanks!:)
 
While Home can emulate your unit (Operate my Unit) reasonably well, it doesn't have all the options your unit has. It can't utilize a computer voice and it can't set the time since that function needs a gps signal and, of course, the Home software on your computer can't detect the required signal.
