Hi all,
Maybe someone can help with this little problem.
After trying to upgrade the programme on our tomtom it looks as if something went wrong and deleted all the files. We have tried to reinstall by using the backup facility on Home but it says there are no backup files to use. Have tried to reinstall the programme files but that keeps on coming up with an error at differents points in the copy files process. It will turn on when not connected to the comp but jus says "No Maps Found".

Would like some help to get it back to working order, if only to save spending money on buying a new one...it is only 2 years old.

Have checked the backup files using explorer but the folder seems to be empty, only one file in it called cline.dat. nothing else.
anyideas anyone?

If that is the only result of any backup you've made, then there are problems?

Have you ever made an Explorer, not Home, backup?

Did you ever update the map on the unit from that which was originally there? If so, you may be in luck.

If so, look here:
c:\documents and settings\yourname\my documents\TomTom\Home\Downloads\Complete\Maps\

and you'll see the downloaded update maps in compressed form.

You can install the map manually. See here:
https://www.tomtomforums.com/genera...nstall-downloaded-map-without-using-home.html

Or, you can use Home's Manage my Unit-->Computer tab-->Map and see if the map is listed. If so, you can have Home reinstall it.

If you do have a map and you HAVE installed it, then delete all the loose files in the root of the unit, NO folders or their contents.

Then connect to Home and install the application offered. Disconnect the unit properly from Home using the device disconnect icon.

See if eveything is ok.

If so, make an Explorer, not Home, backup of the unit's contents.

Hi and thanks for your quick reply.

Have checked the Downloads\complete\ folders but there is nothing in there that says maps.

Not made an explorer back up as not known is was better than using Home until reading the forums today :(

Any other thoughts?

Unfortunately, without a map, there is nothing you can do but purchase a new one from TomTom.

Everything else can be replaced for free.

I'd wait a few days unitil 865 is released though..
