XL-One issues

My son has an XL-One that will not stay charged. After it is removed from the cradle in the car it is dead (approx 1 yr old). Also if the volume is up, the unit shut downs. I'm charging the battery off a regular 110 charger now and then was going to do a reset. Any one have any suggestions or can a battery be replaced? Thank You in advance
