Hi Guys

I am new to this site, Happy New Year

I amm hoping that someone else on this site has had similar problems or has a solution.
I live in Mississauga and bought the traffic antenna at the beginning of December 2008 and have yet to get it to work. All I get is the little car at the top of the traffic section on the screen with the green arrow.
I have spoken with Tom Tom support a few times and they have gotten me to remove the device application and re-install it, reboot the device and reset the device.

Is there anyone out there that may have a suggestion as to how to get this traffic antenna to work.

It ended up costing me $160 and my wife is ready to kill me

Thanks for any help

I understood that firmware 8x KILLED the traffic RDS for Canada (!!) and there wasn't a fix yet. Now, there are members here also from our part of the woods who may also be using the RDS with no problem and hopefully they'll show up and reply but, if I were you, I'd call support back and get a confirmation that traffic IS working in Toronto for your firmware (touch the satellite bars to see the firmware version).

Hi dhn

I have spoken with Tom Tom support and given them my application version and map version, and they didn't mention anything about v8 not being able to handle the traffic. But I will confirm with them.

Thanks

I had the misfortune of breaking my serial RDS antenna in November, which until it broke worked fine. The replacement USB antenna does not work in Toronto. (It endlessly scans for a signal.) I've been back and forth with support since then, and can report that they told me this morning that the current version of my software is the problem. It is a "high priority" but they have no ETA as to when the problem will be fixed. They advised though that they will extend my subscription for the down period.

I've got a One 3rd edition running 8.010.

I suggest calling in, they need to hear from more people. The rep this morning said that there are lots of people affected, but that I'm the only one he's heard from.

Thanks for the info

It's funny I have spoken with them 3 times and nobody mentioned this problem to me.
They did say at one point that it was my application/firmware version but just told me to re-install the most recent version.

With technical support it really depends who you end up talking to as far as getting an answer to the problem.

I will get back to them and confirm the v8 is the problem.

Thanks Guys :)

It's quite frustrating, I've called a few times over the last few weeks. They initially hinted that it was a software issue, but then got my hopes up before Christmas when they wanted to send me another USB antenna. The second USB antenna did the same thing as the first one, an endless search for a station.

Today I got a fairly good rep, who confirmed that it was a software issue. He didn't have an ETA for the fix, hopefully it will be soon!

There is now an update available from TomTom support that will allow the USB receiver to work in Canada (at least with the One 3rd edition). I applied the new version yesterday and traffic is now functioning again. It's not available via Home, you'll need the link from support.

What is the version number of that application? And, do you happen to have the link that support provided?

That's a legitimate site (I mean, it's TomTom, eh? ;)).

It's links to warez sites that are not allowed.
