Heya All,
I am now the proud owner of a GO 930 that I just purchased today, all is working relatively well (except that every time I attempt to update the maps but TomTom home cannot connect and fails :( )
Anyhoo.. the problem that I am most experiencing at the moment is I have attached the windshield mount in my car and now... erm, I cant remove it.

I have had a look through all the manuals and all of the online stuff, however I cant find anywhere that it says how to remove it?
Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?
LOL an embarrassed noob.
Stuart

On the part of the mount that is stuck to the glass you will see a small tab of plastic sticking out, get hold of that and pull, this allows air to get in between the screen and holder thus releasing it - Mike

Hi Mike,
Thanks for that will give this a whirl and see how we go ;)

The sticky surface, is there any way to protect this? As it almost seemed to have a sticker on it after I pulled off the protective coating (which annoyingly ripped as I was peeling it).
Cheers
Stuart

(currently playing to try to get MP3s on the device LOL)

I just give the sucker a quick wipe with a cloth every now and again, as long as no large bits of dirt/ grit get on to the surface its fine, car windscreen wipes are good for cleaning it with.

As for mp3 for your new toy, get a large capacity SD or SDHC card, your device can use cards up to and including 32GB in capacity, create a folder named "mp3" (without the "" but MUST be lower case) in the root of the memory card and put all your music files/ folder in to the mp3 folder, insert it to the 930 and enjoy - Mike

Thanks Mike and Jimlad,
Haha this is one of the reasons I love the internet, people can help people out. And we all have to start somewhere.

Thanks for your help I will have a play with it in the morning when it is light again ;)

I have put the files into the mp3 folder (lowercase) and am just waiting for the device to complete a backup so that I can have a play and see if it worked.
Thanks once again Mike.

I trust you are using Windows Explorer for your backup, don't use the TT Home application for doing this very important task as its too unreliable - Mike

OOOh no I was using the TomTom Home Application,
Is it better just to run a backup of the mass storage device in explorer?
Cheers
Stuart

The thing is we have seen it all too often on this forum and others where the backup created by Home simply didn't work when needed leaving a user with a bricked device. Use Windows Explorer and you will have a true copy of the data from the device, I would also suggest you copy the backup to either a DVD or external drive as PC hard drives can fail leaving you with no data - Rare as this might be, it can and does happen - Mike

Hi Mike,
No worries, I do backups regularly offsite (being a geek I have seen many a hard drive fail) so I can add the backup into that rotation. But thanks for the advice, I will do a full backup manually.

Shame they could not create a backup system that is reliable LOL

*pouts*
tried to pull the little tab thing (both towards me and just simply down), but me fingers are too chubby, I cant get a good grip LOL...
I am going to give it another whirl tomorrow but I think I might have to look and see if there are any alternative mounts from TomTom that are easier to get on and off.

Apparently so, I think. Don't have one myself.

A brief bit of info:

The easyport mount now has more well defined "clicks" to let you know the mount is locked. It will still take some getting used to for new people, but the click should make things a little more clear.

Also, go here for a little video on its use

Awesome that is *exactly* what I want, I have ordered one off ebay as I looked at the tomtom australia site and the postage was more than the cost of the mount (so over double the listed price).

And for reference I got the current one off, I had to wedge my L plate under the tab to remove it, I simply could not get a good enough grip to remove it :(

LOL at least I got there in the end.
