will not power on

I plugged my XXL540M with the 110v charger that I used for my damaged XL340S and now the device will not turn on. Did I damage it with the charger?

That shouldn't have happened. How long are you holding the power button?

You say your xl340S was damaged. Could you elaborate a bit? I'd hate to think it was the charger that did the original damage.

Several minutes while it was plugged into a USB port.

My dog knocked my 340 out of my hand onto the driveway.

And what happened when you held the power button down?
Does the device re-boot but not start up? Or is there no activity at all? Does the screen light up even in there is nothing displayed on it, or is it totally dead?

Absolutely nothing happens other than my finger gets tired. The screen does not light up so it is totally dead.

I hesitate to suggest you try the charger on anything else. Do you by any chance have access to a voltmeter (or know someone who has one)? It would be good to check whether the output of the charger is still 5 Volts on the outer two pins of the USB connector.

I had my AC charger checked and it is good. The voltage was about 5.5.
After reading reviews on the Garmin, I have decided to stick with the TomTom. It is still the best for the money.
