TomTom Model(s)
Expert 7”
I’ve got a WIFI issue with a TomTom expert 7”.It can’t find any basically and hasn’t any stored on the device.
Works generally
Done updates
Connects to my phone (sort of)
Any ideas?

You say "...hasn't any stored on the device".
There would only be WiFi connections stored on your Expert if you had made those connections yourself.

Are you saying that when you select Main Menu / Settings / WiFi that you cannot see any nearby WiFi systems available for connection under "Available networks"? Do you have a home WiFi router or other WiFi device close enough that you are certain should be appearing on your device as available for connection?

There should be WiFi devices that connect without a problem.
But there aren’t any stored on the device and the blue line when you go into WiFi to connect just keeps running from left to right but there isn’t anything coming up on the screen.

Again to ask just to be sure -- the reason you believe that they should "connect" is because YOU have previously made connections to these devices with your Expert, and they're currently within range of your Expert?

Has this device, since you've owned it, EVER successfully connected to a WiFi router, hot spot, or other device?

Not sure about a "blue line" as that's not what mine displays when there are no WiFi SSIDs to discover in the area.

If you're 100% certain that there are visible WiFi devices in the area to which your device should connect, I'd consider a factory reset of the device and then attempt again to connect to WiFi.

I have tried this and still no WiFi
I am baffled to be honest.
I don’t know if this has been connected via WiFi previously.

I take it, then, that you're not the original owner. There would therefore be absolutely no reason for your TomTom to automatically connect to any WiFi device. That's something that must be done in the presence of the specific device to which you wish to be connected. The previous owner evidently told his TomTom to "forget" any previous connections when selling it.

I'd go ahead and perform a "Factory Reset" on the device, make sure you have something WiFi around that another device can see for sure - like a home router, and see what your device sees.

Back to square one, please.

Do you have anything else nearby that IS successfully connected to WiFi, and if so, connected to what?

Quick question, is the icon that indicates your location grayed out?
As asked in a previous post, have you performed a factory reset?

Icon goes blue and I’ve done soft reset..total reset..factory reset..reinstall software etc and still this device does not work.

I find it strange that if you select Settings then Wi-Fi on the GPS, no available Wi-Fi networks around the GPS are displayed.

Contact the person who sold you the GPS, they may be able to help you.

Might end up having to send this device away somewhere for repairs
Appreciate any other suggestions anyone might have.
Thanks

How to contact TomTom customer support by chat or email

If the GPS is still under warranty, the purchase invoice must be provided.

I’m getting nowhere here at all..seems others have had the page showing active networks and other networks and then the blue line trawling backwards and forwards..solution sadly has not manifested itself after days of trying

Is it possible to have a picture of this blue line that runs on both sides?
I'd like to see that, too. I've never seen that on a TomTom that was searching for WiFi devices.

@Johndutton71
It sounds as though you may have got hold of a defective 2nd hand device.

Here you go.

What? Where? Where?
