Hello, I'm new to this forum and am currently trying to find a new gps unit for my family. I had an older garmin but it was stolen so need to replace it. I'm finding that most of the new garmin units no longer have an aux output. A feature that i must have. We plug into our aux in and transmit through the car radio so we can hear it over the kids.We use the gps for long family trip cross country as well as daily use. I supply teach and used my old unit to help find schools that i hadn't been too.
Looking for a unit with both canadian and U.S. maps, Aux output, able to use audio books and mp3 for the long trips, and a lane asist feature to tell me what lane to be in for up coming exits. The tomtom site doesn't list much about the units specifications and aux outputs.
Thanks in advance

thanks checked it out and it looks like it would do nicely. Appearantly it's not in stock right now, on the tt site. I'll see if i can find it somewhere else.
thanks

Also have a look at the Go 940 model, if you can find that anywhere.
That was the most recent model that still had the ability to sent the audio over FM or Bluetooth to a suitable car radio and also has the mp3/audiobook player.

If you still need a hard-wired audio output, you need to buy the alternative permanent mount and I don't think that was ever sold in the US, but I don't know if it was in Canada.

Nope, they didn't love the Canadians, either. ProClip is selling the European 'active dock' here in the U.S. for the 740, and that will provide audio out along with a nice set of features in general. The only problem is that a 740 is becoming a scarce commodity. The MP3 player would be a 3rd party add-on from one of a couple of places.

A Go950 should fit the same mount.

No mp3 player, but PART of what the OP was after was having the nav, instructions on the audio out, and that should still work.

As an alternative, It might even be cheaper to stick with the standard mount and buy a cheap Bluetooth hifi receiver, as the nav. instructions can be sent via BT.

Yeah, but the OP is in Canada. We never saw the 950 over here - closest was the 740.
