My son-in-law just bought a TT One NE today, and it came without a card in the slot or in the box. The device # starts with AK, the App is 6.560, OS:1713, GPS is v1.21 and Boot is 5.05 - my question: exactly what version is this????? The info was relayed to me via cell phone so I haven't seen the unit as of yet. My One NE came with a card already in the slot and when you unplug the card the unit goes dead so you'll pardon me if I'm a bit confused.

He said the salesman told him that there was another model of the One for $50 more that had access to more satellites or something like that - and then there was the One XL with the bigger screen!

Sounds like it is the ONE with the Hammerhead chip.
It looks to be running Navcore 6.50.
The ONE with the SD card is the ONE with the SirFIII chip.

The ONE model's that have the SiRFIII chip and mandatory SD card, AFAIK, are hard to find or not being sold anymore.

They are approximately equivalent.

There was an extensive test done (see following link) that showed less "drift" and very slight increased sensitivity in the GL Hammerhead model.

In real-world applications, you would be hard-pressed to tell the difference.
