TomTom Model(s)
Tomtom GO for Android
Does anyone know which file on the tomtom store bluetooth preferences?

I have a Razr2 V8 that is incompatible with tomtom's pairing sequence. I'm trying to see if I can manually turn on handsfree features in the preferences file, or if I can pair with a compatible phone and change the bluetooth name/mac address in the preferences file to make it repoint to the razr2.

You'll find a Bluetooth (yeah, well almost a mac address) in your settings.dat file. You'll probably want a binary editor to make the mod even though most of this mess is in ASCII.

The line with the name and address data is not far past location 0D20h in my file. Just pair with anything it can find and then make your mods. See no reason at all why that shouldn't work.

It doesn't seem to work.

First, tomtom seemed to ignore the settings.dat file and overwrite it with one from memory. I learned that I have to shut down the tomtom before plugging it into the USB. I also did a few clear-flashes, maybe that helped too.

But even after I got the Bluetooth address change to stick, it still wouldn't connect. I only have one compatible phone, so I'm not sure if it's due to some problem with the address-changing technique, or if it's just a problem with the Razr2. If I can find a second compatible phone, I'll test things out further later.

If you have a Bluetooth dongle on your PC, you should be able to pair with that as well as a test -- rather than scaring up another BT compatible phone. I've paired the two before. You just need to set up BT DUN profile and enable the service on your PC. Your TT should at least see it and be willing to pair with it.
