I am going on holiday to Florida in a couple of weeks.
My old 510 has packed in so need a replacement sat nav. I already have USA maps on SD card so want a sat nav that will accept the USA map on SD card.
Can anyone suggest a model, dont mind if its refurbished, that will accept the USA SD card.
Thanks
Garry

Gary, We in north america are not too experienced with TomTom maps sold on a sd card and locked to the card. However, one of our SuperModerators, Mikealder, is UK based and DOES know about this ....

If he doesn't reply to this thread in the next 24 hours (he probably will), then send him a pm to advise you.

Try Halfords online for a bargain 520 with latest map guarantee for around ?136, you can update the software to the latest for free and get the map to the latest version for no extra charge and it does have that all important SD card slot - Mike

Even though the Halfords 520 shows in stock they apparantly don't have any (or so I was reliably informed earlier today), check Amazon though for a new 530 which will cost around ?150 to ?155 and again this device will accept memory cards etc - Mike

I don't know UK pricing, but a 920 will have US maps built in. It may be cheaper to buy a 920 than to buy a 520 plus buy a map.

Most current Tomtom maps are no longer sold on SD cards. They are downloaded from HOME and are serial number locked to a specific Tomtom device. Newer Tomtoms have internal flash memory and don't need SD cards to function. So you can put a US map on any Tomtom that permits US maps here (most, not all, permit US maps).

SD cards are helpful if you need more space for maps. HOME-downloaded maps can be copied to any SD you want as long as they're used in the same device.
