What are my chances with TomTom?

I owned a TT 720 with a USA 720 map that I bought and had installed. This past weekend I gave the unit to my daughter and son-in-law as a going away gift for their move to Georgia. Subsequently I purchased another TT 720 (used) that had a 710 map. I created a new account with the it's code number to get my TT Home software to work...BUT..and I was afraid of this, it will not allow me to download the 720 map on my harddrive to this second unit. I have had no luck getting TT to answer the phone to ask if I could transfer the map account, so thought I might ask my forum friends what they thought TT might tell me......I fear a new purchase of a 720 map. Could one download the 720 map off of the harddrive onto a SD card and have it run the TT? (operating system too, I suppose)? Thanks, Steve

The maps become device specific when activated on the device, so i think you ar out of luck. If newer ones could be copied and moved, it would happen all the time.

If by some chance, your "used" was a refurb through an authorized dealer - you could possible get them to do a map update within 30 days. If it simply used - they will not.
