Someone give me some encouraging news here! My kids decided that my XL-S was a better holder for the soda than the cup, and now it's dead. I can turn it on, it goes to an information menu that shows the hard drive info and such, but will not respond. I got it to connect to the computer once, and reloaded it, but then nothing. Any suggestions? TomTom offered me a new one at a reduced price, and said nothing more could be done. Help! :(

It's a very good possibility that you have some sugar in there. If you can take it apart, I suggest you wash it and then let it dry for a few days.

Wash it? You'll have to explain that to me! LOL! I tried taking it in the shower to get some water pressure inside ..... just kidding! What I did was take it apart, used pressurized air to get the moisture out, and then left it sealed for two days in a bag of rice to soak up the moisture before turning it on. Can you recommend anything else?

BTW - I think I may be using this little castatrophe to upgrade to the 720 if I cannot find a solution, so it is not all bad!

If you where living close I would say bring it to me.:p Used to work in fixing electronics. Hum, it is not easy to tell, sugar is bad for circuits. You have nothing to lose, but I never opened any TT before. Got some weirds hexagonals screws too. I already did that on other things, just pass the board under some hot wather and with a toothbrush to brush him with bicarbonate. But don't use too much water on it. Rince, after use a air compressor to remove extra water... maby a hair dryer can help there, no need to use hot hair, dry it until nothing come out anymore. It worked for electronic typewriter.
Good luck:cool:
