I just bought a TT 130. Set it up in my car before I left the parking lot. I found the volume to be very low and it was set to 100%. My windows were down and I was getting some wind noise. Is there anyway to boost the volume some more. Or di I just have to drive around with my windows up when ever I'm using my TT?
Also, how do I return to the set up screen so I can change the placement of my TT from left to right.

I don't think the TomTom's speaker can compete with windnoise. Try it with the windows up. Does it seem OK or not?

This is a new model that I haven't seen much comment on so far.

So is there no answer to the poor volume?

Chris

By default, my TomTom was set to alter volume based on your speed of travel. I turned this feature OFF and now the volume is much more consistent.

CHANGE PREFERENCES -> VOLUME PREFERENCES

UNCHECK the Link Volume To Car Speed box

I agree, unchecking Link Volume to Car Speed makes a huge difference!

My first 130S from Radio Shack had very poor volume. After performing the above mentioned tips, TT customer service suggested exchanging it for another at Radio Shack. Which I did, now I keep the volume at 70% with road and wind noise... no problem.

Just curious? How does this improve the volume?

I find that when the volume is linked to car speed, it is very sporatic in its volume level. It seems when the car is moving relatively slowly, the volume is MUCH lower than you would want it to be.

When you turn OFF this feature, the slide bar volume adjuster will indeed be the actual volume you hear (i.e. 70% or 75%, etc. of max) as opposed to the speed-sensitive software LOWERING or RAISING the volume on its own....this software can take your 75% setting and actually output the volume at 50% or something lower than what you actually have the slide bar set at. The coders would have needed to choose a 'nominal' speed at which they interpret your 75% setting....the nominal speed they chose is unknown and the speed could be at a higher point that what you are actually travelling...thus, if they chose 50mph as the nominal speed and you are doing 35 or 40mph, you won't be hearing the volume at the percentage value you set.
