Was trying to update and received this message. I had deleted data46.chk and .vif prior to receiving this message. Anyway to restore those files? I did not have a backup :(
Now the TomTom won't boot up at all.

Does the computer see the unit when connected? If so, make an Explorer, not Home, backup. Then, when sure the backup is on the computer, delete all loose files in the root of the unit, NO folders or their contents.

Connect to Home and install the application offered. Disconnect properly from Home using the device disconnect icon. See if things are better now.

Backed up the TomTom and deleted all the loose files all through Explorer. Opened up HOME and tried to update and received same error regarding voices/data07.chk. The files that are giving me the error are in my voices folder and are also the first files in that folder.

Any other suggestions?? What I did learn was never update the TomTom the day before you are ready to go on a long driving trip!!:)

I assume your TomTom is the "F" drive.

The problem as I see it is that during a scan of the content of your device, Home is having difficulty with that one voice file (US English version "Lori", I believe). It is showing up as 'in inventory' but isn't able to be found or read for some reason.

Curious - WHY did you delete data46.chk/.vif earlier? Was it because Home was complaining about those as well before you posted here? Did you ALSO delete the data46.tlv file? That's the 'inventory' management file.

Anyway, check to see what files remain in "voices" for voice "7". I would expect you to find data07.chk, data07.vif and data07.tlv. If the *.tlv file is there but the *.chk file is not, Home is going to gripe.

Let us know what you still have in "voices" per above.
