VIA 53
It's been working on for the last few years, with a few traffic non connection hiccups now and again

But now Data for Traffic refuses to connect although my Google Pro 7 is connected to it and it does say Hands free calls connected.

MyDrive App is up to date and I've rebooted both my phone and TomTom, but it still will not connect.

Any ideas? Thank you

Let's see if your traffic subscription is working. There is an alternate connection method for this test that avoids any of the Bluetooth and/or MyDrive app issues that might be taking place.

Since you have a Via 53, you also have the option of connection to the traffic server via WiFi. You can use a home WiFi system to make that connection. See if you get traffic results that way.

Alternately, if your cellular carrier permits WiFi tethering, try using your Pro 7 as a WiFi hotspot, and setting up your Via 53 to communicate with it over that hotspot rather than Bluetooth.

Hi thanks for your kind reply WIFI connection was fine and displayed traffic.

Mydrive App says my live traffic expires in May 2028 but I wasn't aware that live traffic had a time restriction on it on any TomTom device.

The Hotspot won't connect but the device still says I have a connect for phone calls and messages .

Most odd

Don't confuse a Bluetooth 'hotspot' for a WiFi 'hotspot'. Phone calls and messages won't be part of a WiFi connection. And Bluetooth and WiFi have a different setup procedure on your Via 53. Try first deleting the Bluetooth connection to your phone on your Via 53, and then enabling your phone as a WiFi (not Bluetooth) hotspot, then connect your Via 53 to your phone via WiFi. If traffic works that way, then we can discuss why the MyDrive app is misbehaving if need be. However...

Frankly, if you only need this for traffic, and not planning routes and such on your phone to transfer to your Via 53, I've found that the WiFi solution is more reliable and uses less phone battery than the MyDrive app. I can supply my vehicle's head unit and two TomTom devices with WiFi all day without issues.

As noted early on, however, it is possible that your cellular carrier doesn't include WiFi tethering in your plan, or only offers it at extra cost. You'll want to check on that.

Hi , thanks again, seems to have done the trick.

Im not sure why the traffic data via Bluetooth just suddenly refused to work at all given I have the latest version of the App.

But it's always been a little unstable.
