Via 225 problems

Okay, I'm a fairly new user to tomtom but I'm having a major hassle with it.
I saw a notice saying that I had update available so I plugged everything in hoping to be ready to roll.
My maps were updated to show all the current New Zealand maps, not really much good to me as I live in Brisbane, Australia. The aussie map files no longer existed.
I restarted everything, PC included, and finally got to where it would update my aussie maps.
It says that its downloading the content to my computer but gets to 5% and stops dead.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Briefly unplug and reattach the USB cable.
Some times that helps.
May need to be done more than once.

Thanks for that, it took 9 tries at unplugging to get it to update. It didn't take this long to reformat my PC.
At least I've got my Australian maps again.
