VIA 1400 RDS-TMC cable question

I like my 1400 but miss the traffic function on my last unit. I see many VIA plug stye specific RDS-TMC car chargers on ebay. Will these provide traffic on my via 1400?? On the 1400's menu traffic is an option, and it says conect a RDS-TMC cable from tom tom. Wondering if any one has had success with a 1400?
