Hello

I own a TomTom XL 340?S GPS and a Nikon D90 DSLR. I bought the little cable from Pc-Mobile data cables audio adapters for PDA, GSM and GPS Bluetooth, Nikon PSP that allows me to connect the GPS device to D90.

I am unable to have my D90 "see" the GPS.

I looked here but could not find a thread on this subject.

So, has anyone tried a similar set-up?

Comments and suggestions are always appreciated.

Tks

Unfortunately I don't have an answer to your question but just out of curiousity, why would you want to connect your GPS to a digital camera?

G?tten Tag

Geotagging of your pics is the latest hip thing to do ;-)

Seriously, normally I would buy the Nikon GP-1 add-on that mounts on the camera's shoe (where you fix an external flash). However, the unit is expensive and I am cheap LOL.

I was thinking that since I already have a great GPS, why not leverage it fully?

I know that some other people have achieved this with a Garmin GPS (or so I read on dpreview.com's forum).

The goal is to have each pic you take accurately and automatically tagged. And then they all show up on a map in iPhoto 09 (and the new Picasa 3.5 I believe).

I hope this explains.

Aufwiedersehen und "tchus".

Guten Tag! ;)

Thanks for the explanation. I did hear of geotagging before but wasn't aware that this could be done by connecting the camera to a GPS. Thanks for the information. I hope someone here will be able to help you out with this. Good luck!

Geo Tagging pictures is quite cool and rewarding but the TomTom won't be capable of sending the positional data out through the mini USB port, in fact I am not too sure you could even send positional data via Bluetooth from a Go device (which you don't have).

To be honest you need to source an NMEA compliant GPS receiver to work with the camera, the TomTom is not viable for this sort of use as there is no way to output the data needed - Mike

Slow when the car is moving??? Not for me and I drive fast LOL.

One gripe: I do need to update the map of Canada as one route that was suggested took my off on a 4x4 trail! Truly!
