Using tomtom one 3rd to record route

I would like to use my tomtom 3rd to put in a vehicle and record the route that it took (with stops if possible). I saw that someone had mentioned that tripmaster was what I needed, but I did not have any luck installing it onto my tomtom. I got to the point to where I was supposed to click on an icon on the screen, but the icon wasn't there (sorry, it has been a few weeks since I tried this and I don't have details). If anyone can help me, I would surely appreciate it.
