In the past I have soldered in the leads when I was replacing cracked digitizers. I was wondering if anyone has tried using the new conductive wire glues being advertised as a no heat alternative for solder replacement. Seems to be a good idea if it works but I have my doubts.

I haven't used them myself, but I have heard that they are fairly messy to use, and a soldering iron is far more precise with regard to making the right bits conduct and not the wrong bits.

It depends a little upon what product you are using. If you use the expensive silver loaded product, it will conduct far better than the cheesy carbon loaded version. The cheaper versions form very weak mechanical bonds and depend heavily upon the items being 'soldered' to be well attached to begin with.

The other problem is that, unlike soldering, this stuff doesn't solidify immediately, so it can be a challenge to hold things in place while that happens.

I'd stick with a fine point pencil iron.
