TomTom Model(s)
GO 700
Hello all, rather than type my thread, I thought I would simply copy my complaint to TomTom C/S (if they get it, as the email address I found didn't quite fit the format until I played around with it)
Anyway this is my rant to C/S

Today I received an email from TomTom offering a free upgrade for my device the GO700 which was included in the list.
Having logged in etc & after following the prompts to completion, I found that switching on my devise all information has been wiped & I get the on screen message " no maps found"
I realise the GO700 is obsolete, but it did what I wanted it to do, even signing it's praises when sat-navs came into conversations & I also realise there is no longer any support for this unit, but surely TomTom should not have included the GO 700 for updates.
I use the device on a very regular basis having recently moved from Lancashire to West Yorkshire. The unit is now totally useless unless I can retrieve all the info that has been lost due to the "upgrade"
I am not a happy bunny as it's not too long ago that I paid £59 for a map upgrade to TomTom, even then there were issues with the service.
I look forward, eagerly, to a response for a solution to this problem caused by the invitation from TomTom to upgrade.
Kind regards.

I hope they take a serious approach to this email.
What's also galling, is that I've fashioned a quick fit/release gismo to the cars dash that doesn't leave any tell tale marks that a satnav is in the car.

I'd welcome any comments from the forum.

Many thanks dhn for the link, but as my email was returned, I rang C/S, slightly different number to the one you've posted & explained the situation, the problem was resolved fairly quick. So panic over, all maps restored. :)

Am curious -- what number did you use?

02079 490 129 I asked where the guy I was speaking to was based, he was in India & on the .phone for a good 15 mins.
02 call to India??????????? still, it got me sorted.

Redirection of calls to 'local' numbers to overseas call centers are the norm these days. Since VOIP happened, it's so cheap that companies are sending their call centers overseas where the labor is cheap, too. Certainly understandable from a business standpoint, providing the people on the other end are also understandable!

I did the same as I originally did for the free upgrade by simply following the prompts from the chappie over the 'phone, who was excellent. But when I first did the upgrade myself, for whatever reason as the upgrade progressed, I got the "ok" as each upgrade was successfully installed, maps, postcodes etc then the message that the upgrade had failed at the last hurdle, but no explanation as to why? So I un-installed the upgrade & turned the device on only to see the message "no maps available" & I couldn't do anything further on the device. That's when I searched for a telephone number, just prior to dhn posting one up.
I'm really pleased that it's sorted as I didn't relish getting another sat-nav having got so used to the 700.

HTH

Cheers BeeJay
